Contract Llama, LLC is not your attorney, it is a document preparation company. Our sister company, Basecamp Legal, is also not your attorney, unless you have separately hired Basecamp Legal by signing an engagement agreement. Just remember to delete the brackets, remove the highlights, and delete the letter from us at the beginning.

We're no one-trick llamas! Our founder is licensed in Colorado, California, and Idaho. Most of the documents were intended to be applicable throughout the United States, unless the template specifically says it’s for a specific state (like our Colorado Independent Contractor Agreement template). If you want to be sure about your state or local laws, we encourage you to engage a local lawyer, but because you have a template – it should save you some legal fees. Please note these templates are not intended to be used outside the United States.

We regularly monitor federal intellectual property and advertising laws for changes, and frequently update our contract templates. However, it will be a logistical nightmare to keep up with everyone’s contract version. So no, we do not send new documents. We recommend you do a contract review yearly.

We have been practicing law and advising businesses for more than a decade. Let’s just say we have cleaned up some documents from other contract shops. People kept asking our founder for her templates so she created this shop for you. She’s helped hundreds of small businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs. She knows that sometimes getting legal assistance is one of the last priorities on the “to do” list, but that it’s ten times more expensive to hire a legal janitor than it is to hire a legal advisor early – so she wanted you to have a solid starting point.
